In the run-up to Christmas, Karlsruhe caused a stir with an innovative competition campaign in the city center and significantly increased sales.

Goal

The aim of the campaign was to increase traffic and sales in Karlsruhe city center during the pre-Christmas period. An interactive competition was designed to attract customers and encourage them to shop.

Idea

Posters with QR codes were put up all over the city, which users could scan with their smartphone to access the Virtual Booth application. This creative idea was designed to attract the attention of passers-by and motivate them to take part.

Implementation

After scanning the QR code, users were able to take a photo in the photobooth application and decorate it with various Christmas overlays and stickers or have it transported to various locations in Karlsruhe's Christmassy city center using a background release. The finished photo was available to download and share on social media. Users then took part in a digital scratch card competition and had the chance to win vouchers that could be redeemed directly on site. The vouchers were sent by email after a GDPR-compliant data query, which increased traffic to the stores in the city center and boosted sales.
